Hello future subscribers (I hope) and readers of the Sigma Alpha blog.
My name is Beth Holz and I will be managing this blog for the 2011-2012 school year. I am a senior at Kansas State University with a major in Agricultural Communications. Surprising, an agricultural communications major wants to start an “ag”spired blog.
I am blog-obsessive. I love reading them — sometimes for hours, and sometimes when I should be studying for a test. I like them because by following a blogger, I feel connected to him/her, like I actually know them in the non-virtual world (and sometimes I meet them in the real world!). They become my friend, that I can easily catch up with them on my laptop. This is why I wanted to implement a blog as apart of my Alumni Liaison office, how better to show alumni and the rest of the world, what the Sigma Alpha girls are all about?
This blog will be different than others, as many girls in Sigma Alpha will be authoring stories, pictures, and blog posts. This blog will provide readers with diverse content, opinions, and voices. Furthermore, readers will be able to identify with the girls in our sorority, as each one of us has different agricultural experiences and background.
The purpose of this blog is to be able to share what is going on in the chapter with alumni, future members, professionals in the agriculture industry and lastly, those who love agriculture like we do. Not to mention, readers will get to know the members of the Alpha Omega Chapter even better. I hope that this serves as a canvas for Sigma Alpha members to showcase their talents, share their creativity and express their opinions.
I can only hope that everyone enjoys reading the material the women of EA present, members learn about “agvocacy” and social networking, and through this blog our relationships with others become stronger.
