A few girls who went through Fall 2011 Recruitment share their experiences:
I have to admit, I was a little nervous and hesitant about going
through recruitment week for Sigma Alpha. The idea of it sounded
scary and nerve-racking, but I found that this was not the case
at all! All the girls were super nice, welcoming, and we all had
something in common because we all have a strong passion for
agriculture. Advice I would give other recruits is to just be
yourself, be open to others, and have fun with it! One of my favorite
events was the BBQ. I enjoyed meeting everyone and playing
games with other recruits, as well as actives. I got to see the fun
side of everyone! I really have enjoyed getting to know other girls
that are committed to agriculture, and encourage all young ladies
interested in ag to consider Sigma Alpha!

Hi there, my name is Bridget Hoover and I was recently given a bid to join the Sigma Alpha sorority on KSU’s campus, and of course I accepted! I am a sophomore at K-State this year and am the ongoing reporter for Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT). I decided to join Sigma Alpha because of the great networking opportunities that I was told they give, as well as their philanthropy events like Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign and the Cystic Fibrosis walk. I also felt that Sigma Alpha as being a sisterhood would give me the opportunity to make even more great friends, which I definitely have. Recruitment week was a blast and I recommend that anyone planning on joining the sorority next year should go to all 3 recruitment activity nights. I think by far my favorite night was costume and game night. I dressed up as a bus and had a blast taking pictures and playing catchphrase with the other girls. I got to know the actives of Sigma Alpha and learned about all the wonderful experiences that Sigma Alpha has offered them. I gained networking, friendships, and above all a spot in the Sigma Alpha sorority at K-State. I feel that all girl’s should participate in the Sigma Alpha recruitment it is a blast and don’t be nervous for interviews, they are a blast as well. It is fun to see what questions the actives come up with for you. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions either, the bid process can seem confusing but once it is explained you will understand!
- Bridget at the BBQ!
- The most fun bus I’ve ever encountered!
Both girls are now going through our MC process, and we are very excited to get to know them even more as they learn about our chapter!
