If you’re bored this summer or looking for a new hobby, pick up a book and read! Books are great stress relievers as well as a way to let your imagination run wild.
There are many great books out there whether you’re interested in Science Fiction, Mysteries, Classics, Fiction or Romance there are many novels out there for you!
If you are a classic novel buff you would probably love novels by Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and Mark Twain. I specifically have enjoyed reading Adventures of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and The Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling.
Adventures of Alice in Wonderland will provide you a read with a lot of imagination. A young girl falls down a rabbit hole into a world of unimaginable things (small rooms, drinks and cakes that make you big and small, etc.) The Mad Hatter and the invisible cat are interesting characters that will enchant you.
I also would recommend the Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling. It provides fiction sensation of man among beasts. A village boy, Mowgli, is taken by Shere Khan, the fierce tiger of the jungle, but is saved by a pack of wolves. Living his whole life in the jungle Mowgli’s life is traced from childhood to adulthood and his learning of mankind.
If you are more into a biography or good reads about real life, I recommend My Guy Barbaro by Edgar Prado. It is the account of a horse, Barbaro, and his jockey Edgar Prado and their claim to fame in the 2006 Kentucky Derby. The book is short; fast paced and gives an account of how the racehorse was injured in the 2006 Preakness and how it eventually led to his death.
If you choose to read any of the above I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have. There are many great books out there and there is always something for everyone!
