- Explore your Opportunities.
As a transfer student to Kansas State University, I wasn’t exactly sure what career I was wanted to pursue. Just a small town girl transferring from a community college just last semester, I didn’t know the endless possibilities of KSU. I started in the mechanical engineering program here at KSU, and eventually changing over into the college of agriculture.
My journey of chasing my agricultural roots all started here at Kansas State University with some of my Sigma Alpha sisters. I ran across the Sigma Alpha booth at the annual watermelon feed and contemplated it for a couple days. Needless to say going through recruitment week for Sigma Alpha was one of the best choices I have made.
- Trust Your Judgement.
At the beginning of last semester I really enjoyed my classes, as the year progressed I began to absolutely despised going to my classes. I sought out advice from some of my Sigma Alpha sisters about what major would be a good fit for me. Finally after trusting my judgement, I decided to transfer into the college of agriculture. After several more weeks pasted I finally made my decision I wanted to go into Agricultural Technology Management. First semester in the Agricultural Technology Management program I enjoy every single minute of it.
- Always Have Faith.
Without my Sigma Alpha sisters, God, family, and friends I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in right now without all of these great people. Having faith through this difficult decision helped me tremendously. Eventually I found my way chasing back to my agricultural roots. The best advice I can give any transfer student is have faith and be patient. Chase your dreams and trust that God will lead you to your true passion. One last scripture that has helped me through it all, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
